Berck-sur-mer

Berck

Berk is a cultural city. At the beginning of last century, it was the largest dry harbour of France (more than 100 fishing boats before 1914) and competed with Boulogne. The silting up of the estuary led Berk fishermen to use flat-bottomed boats that crews pulled on the beach. Berck was then a typical fishing village that attracted and inspired more than 75 artists, including Manet.
Labeled “Kid Station” and “Family Plus”, Berck offers many beach activities for children and families. Berck has a 12 km of fine sand beach that stretches up to the mouth of the Canche river. It is a paradise for families, children, walkers and sport enthusiasts who like to come and enjoy the most iodized air of the region.

Sand yachts, kitesurfs, kites and the beautiful multicolored cabins make the walks along the Esplanade delightful.

Berck hosts the International kites festival every year.
