The Canche

The Canche is a river which starts in Artois and ends into the English Channel, in the town of Etaples. Along the way, throughout its slow race, it will meet a multitude of rivers and streams and roll through seven valleys … The Canche valley is a very green and fertile region. The houses are made of cob and villages are surrounded by meadows.
The heritage is great ; abbeys, castles and villages follow one another.
The Canche Bay is a nature reserve on the south-west of the coastline. The estuary of the Canche lines the huge beach of Le Touquet, where the river flows into the sea. This beautiful nature reserve is home to a unique biodiversity.
